What About My Property Damage?

"Who takes care of my property damage?"

If you have property damage to your cause because of a wreck there's several ways to make a recovery:

The first way is to make a claim against the person who caused the accident under their liability coverage. If you take this path, their liability insurance coverage should help pay for your car damages. Be careful that a list is made of all the upgrades you might have made to your vehicle (stereo systems, special tires, etc.) and of all the damages. That way you can be sure that the other person's insurance company is giving you what you deserve.

Now let's suppose the particular person that hit you doesn't have any insurance or no assets to go after. Then you can make a claim under the comprehensive portion of your policy and they would be required to pay you all the money for the value of that car or the repairs to that car minus a deductible that you would be required to pay out of pocket.

Then the question is how do you know you're getting paid a fair amount? The suggested way of doing it is asking the insurance companies to give you a breakdown of what they relied on in determining the value of your car.

Go through that checklist and make certain that they included every enhancement that you made to that car many times an insurance company will not include. That includes upscale stereo systems or new tires, and any type of upgraded machinery under the hood of the car. Those are the kind of things that will add value to your car, and you need to through that list and make sure the insurance company relied on the right information so that you're given all the money you deserve.
