Trouble With Technology

Ford Motor Company has announced that they have designed a new system that will make it easier for drivers to listen to text messages while driving.

The software will be available as a free upgrade and will broaden the number of devices that are compatible with the hands-free feature of Sync. While they do not claim that this new technology will help make the roads safer they do say that this technology will allow drivers to read incoming texts while keeping their eyes on the road.

Technology aimed at helping drivers multi-task seems to be thriving, but many experts say that even if the drivers eyes are focused on the road and their hands are on the wheel they still can be distracted by conversations on the phone using hands-free technology or by what’s being said in the text messages. Simple conversations or texts may not be distracting but most people have deeper conversations when talking or texting and it’s easy to get caught up in what’s being said and forget about focusing on driving.

While this technology hopes to reduce the amount of car accidents caused by distracted drivers it’s not perfect and even though it may be an inconvenience, the safest thing to put your phone away while driving and not allow it to be a distraction at all.
