Safe Driving During The Holidays

Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season and that usually means more people are out shopping and traveling for the holidays - making the roads a more dangerous place. Whether you’re just going Christmas shopping or you’re headed out of town for the holidays use these tips to make sure your holiday season is safe.

  • Make sure to check your tires, fluids and take care of any other maintenance needed before heading out on a trip. Even if you’re just going down the road it’s always a good idea to make sure your tires have proper air in them and that all of the lights are working
  • Know the weather and traffic conditions beforehand and factor that into your schedule. Be sure to let others know your route in case there are any problems and try to stop every couple of hours to walk around and give yourself a quick rest so that you won’t become drowsy.
  • The holidays are big moneymakers for robbers so make sure you don’t leave any valuables in your car while you’re away. Car alarms are a good deterrent but for those who don’t have them using a lock for the steering wheel or brake/clutch pedal might be a good safety measure.
  • If you’re just out Christmas shopping be sure to park in a well-lit area and pay attention to what’s around your car looking for any suspicious people or vehicles. If you feel uncomfortable find a security guard or store employee to walk with you to your car.
  • Don’t drink and drive!

Don’t let a car wreck ruin your holiday plans. If you have been in an accident be sure to call Richard Schwartz and Associates. They’ll be able to handle your insurance claim and help you get back to enjoying the holidays.
