New Year’s Eve is the final chapter in the year and while many will ring in the New Year with a celebratory toast it is one of the most dangerous days of the year for alcohol related car accidents. Since this New Year falls on a weekend many party-goers may drink more, knowing they can sleep in and recover the next day.
Buzzed driving is just as dangerous as drunk driving so whether you’re planning on having one or several alcoholic beverage make sure you have a designated driver or have the number to a taxi service with you.
Regardless of whether you’ve been drinking, always make sure you and your passengers buckle up. Not only will police officers be watching for drunk drivers they will also be checking to make sure you’re buckled up. If you are involved in a car accident you are less likely to suffer serious injuries.
Parents also need to make sure to talk with their teenagers about the dangerous of buzzed or drunk driving. Not only is it illegal to drink if you’re under the age of 21 but driving under the influence can have serious consequences.
No matter how you ring the New Year in make sure you stay safe and sober if you’re out on the roads. If you have been in a car accident let the lawyers at Richard Schwartz and Associates handle your claim.
